Slowness and some errors for some users in Canvas this morning

About 20% of Canvas users experienced slowness and some errors in the application between 5:00 AM and 5:50 AM US Mountain Time (1100 and 1150 UTC) this morning. A small percentage of users were affected earlier, beginning at about 4:15 AM US Mountain Time (1015 UTC). Our DevOps team identified the cause of the issue, which had to do a change in Canvas code that prevented our capacity-management software from deploying new resources in a state where they could help address increasing system load. We sincerely apologize for the trouble.
